AXIS Capital Holdings Limited has announced that Pauline Morley (pictured) has been appointed as its new head of errors and omissions (E&O) in the US, effective immediately.

In her new role, Morley will be responsible for leading the growth and enhancement of AXIS’ professional liability offerings in the market. Her tasks will include deepening broker relationships, exploring new sectors for growth, and strengthening the company’s existing underwriting capabilities.

Morley brings over 35 years of experience in professional liability underwriting and leadership to her new role. She previously held senior positions at notable insurance firms such as Western World Insurance Group, Travelers, HCC, and USI.

Prior to joining AXIS, she was the senior vice president, miscellaneous professional liability and architects & engineers liability at Argo Pro.

Morley will report directly to John Van Decker, head of global financial lines at AXIS.

“Pauline brings extensive E&O expertise in addition to proven leadership skills that are integral to building on our position in the professional liability market. She will help shape the direction of our portfolio by deepening our existing broker relationships, pursuing additional sectors for profitable growth, and bolstering our existing underwriting strength,” Van Decker said.

“Pauline joins AXIS at an important moment in our journey as we continue to target new opportunities and elevate our specialty insurance solutions in the E&O market.”

Other recent appointments for AXIS

Morley’s appointment follows a run of recent personnel changes at AXIS.

The global specialty firm announced the retirement of Alistair Robson, the head of underwriting for AXIS Global Markets and chief underwriting officer of AXIS Managing Agency. In his place:

  • Rory MacGregor, previously head of non-marine, has been promoted to head of underwriting, Global Markets
  • Steve Cross, formerly head of construction, steps up as head of non-marine, Global Markets
  • Anna Woolley, who served as senior construction underwriter, advances to head of construction, Global Markets
