Risk management firm Assurant has named the new president of its US ‘Connected Living’ arm on the back of growth in the region, it has been revealed.

The global company – which closed a $2.5 billion acquisition deal earlier this year – has appointed Jeff Unterreiner to the role, who previously served as senior vice president of Assurant’s global Connected Living team.

In the new position, Unterreiner will be responsible for “ensuring operational excellence” and leading business and client development opportunities in the US.

Manny Becerra, president of global Connected Living, described Unterreiner as having been successful in several critical leadership roles at the firm, and said he is “the right person to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our clients and their customers in the US, while we continue to expand our global growth initiatives.”

“It’s a time of great opportunity in our business,” Unterreiner said. “We’ve built a great deal of momentum across our markets, especially in the US. By developing innovative solutions that help consumers get the most out of their connected products, we’re also able to deliver competitive advantage to our clients.”

The executive, who joined Assurant in 1996, has held several other roles at the firm including overseeing the strategy, client management, business development, marketing, channel development and point-of-sale execution for the extended protection and payment protection businesses. Unterreiner also previously served as the division’s chief marketing officer for Europe, and as vice president for strategic business development.
